Weekend Tune: North Side Gal by J.D. McPherson

When I was young--I mean six, seven, eight years old--I was convinced that I was born decades too late. When other little girls dressed in princess costumes for Halloween, I wore a poodle skirt and listened obsessively to my dad's American Graffiti soundtrack LP. Later, when the 90's swing revival happened, I watched that one Gap commercial over and over and learned all the moves.

I'm happy now to be living in the 21st century, but gosh darnit if I don't have a soft spot for a good rockabilly tune! Oklahoma rocker J.D. McPherson recently released his single 'North Side Gal' and not only is it a major toe tapper, it's got me looking up local hot spots for jive dance lessons.
