This is one of those posts that makes me wish I had endless space, an entire universe (or at least a few extra thousand pixel widths) to share with you. The incredible Noa Azoulay-Sclater of Feather Love Photography has relaunched her portfolio, and while I knew she was an artist of the Nth degree, the way she's now presenting her work has simply blown me away.
You may know of Noa's beautiful wedding photography--and indeed she's devoted a good chunk of the new portfolio to just that. But she's now made it easy to discover so much more of her body of work: travel, portraits, interiors, and familiar faces like actors and musicians. And my favorite is her experimental shots, like those feathers. Couldn't you just dive in and float there all day?
Noa recently shared with me a quote from Pearl S. Buck, and it seems that her incredible feat--gathering her life's output, editing it down for online consumption--is the embodiment of that quotation: "The truly creative mind in any field is no more than this: A human creature born abnormally, inhumanely sensitive. To them... a touch is a blow, a sound is a noise, a misfortune is a tragedy, a joy is an ecstasy, a friend is a lover, a lover is a god, and failure is death. Add to this cruelly delicate organism the overpowering necessity to create, create, create -- so that without the creating of music or poetry or books or buildings or something of meaning, their very breath is cut off...They must create, must pour out creation. By some strange, unknown, inward urgency they are not really alive unless they are creating."
I really encourage you to delve into Noa's world. The few photos I've shared here are such a small sampling! Bonus: it's not in flash, which means all you Pinterest junkies get ready to pin! What's more, I'm so utterly inspired to get my own portfolio online--the projects I've styled, produced, art directed. So go, take a gander, and then leave feeling ready to create, create, create!

So happy you introduced us all to her!

Recently, I visited with a man from Mexico who is in the U.S. legally, on a work assignment for a large corporation. He was telling me how much he was looking forward to his first American Thanksgiving. He will celebrate with friends either at their home or the others'. I asked about the menu. "Roast turkey with all of the trimmings" he quickly replied with a contagious enthusiasm. This, from a man whose favorite staple is tamales. He has never tasted a real roasted turkey, the American way. I was going to ask about deep frying it...next year, I thought.

It is really cheesy and plasticky looking. Looks more like what I would expect on a blog than something at this price point.
