Darlings. My darlings. You've made it at last! I'm so happy to welcome you to my humble abode. Yes. Another new house. I just can't sit still! But this latest move was a medical necessity. According to my doctor, I can no longer tolerate the wavelength at which colorful wallpaper vibrates. So we had to redecorate entirely in neutrals. Quel dommage, non?
The entryway sets the tone for any home. Naturally mine had to be 'serene and soothing'--my mantra these days. The putty hue on the walls was copied exactly from a fresco in the ruins of Pompeii. After all, nothing says 'serene and soothing' like an ancient volcanic tragedy!
Let's sit by the fire and have tea. My Bertoia bird chair is a prized possession indeed. And this one is a bird chair not only because that's the style name but because it was manufactured by a flock of tiny sparrows. A privilege that cost a pretty penny, but worth every cent as a conversation piece.
Here's the master bedroom, where I get my beauty rest. And I do mean beauty rest. A Swedish masseur named Sven lulls me to sleep with his strong Nordic hands, and while I snooze a team of expert aestheticians goes to work. Scrubs, masks, serums: I wake up feeling refreshed and rejuvenated with skin as silky smooth as the sheets I sleep on.
A reading nook in the guest bedroom--just for you! I've left a stack of particle physics textbooks on the nightstand and there will be a quiz at this time tomorrow. If you get less than 70% correct, I'll replace these plush upholstered chairs with a Gerrit Rietveld number. Study up or you'll be sorry!
Feel free to have a soak while you memorize string theory equations. I have a wide collection of bubbly, fizzy bath accoutrements. I'm especially fond of the ones scented with rare elixir of Peruvian mountain goat musk. My focus and energy have skyrocketed since I had it imported from the Andes!
Last but not least, the veranda is calling our names. I do enjoy sipping my morning coffee here and looking out over the rolling hills. My herd of zebra have been flourishing of late, and I like to watch the cowboys corral them and teach them amusing tricks. Plus their stripes are so on trend!
