Every once in a while, I've got to raise the roof for Canada. I grew up in Toronto (and my family still lives there) so the Great White North will always hold special place in my heart. The birthplace of so many great actors, authors and musicians, Canada must have something in the water--because as Canadian House and Home proves, the country has great style as well!
The magazine features an unbeatable mix of styles, all with an underlying foundation of elegance and approachability. This plum velvet Louis chair pops brilliantly against a backdrop of sisal and blush, and I give two thumbs up to the lucite table floating next to the bed!
A great book storage set-up, and a serious contender for my library solution search. A pleasingly formal symmetry is created by flanking the fireplace with low, broad shelves, but the all-white finish and casual shape of the bookcases keeps the tone relaxed.
I am especially fond of the May spread highlighting Anna Spiro's house. You probably know Anna as the creative genius behind Absolutely Beautiful Things. Her house has made several magazine appearances, but none seemed quite so juicy as this one!
If any color holds the key to my undying devotion, it is pink! Ornately patterned wallpaper, a rustic trestle table, and antique Swedish chairs: perhaps not something I'd do in my own home, but wouldn't it be lovely to take a girls' weekend at a B&B decorated like this?
Finally, not only is Canadian House and Home full of eye-candy, it also offers tons of DIY's and project ideas. This collection is the girly version of framed album covers, and now I know what to do with all the mismatched vintage hankies in my rag bag!

i love this hankie wall!

Whoo-hoo! I LOVE H&H-- and that was a truly great issue, no? That pink wicker couch is on my list of lustworthy items and I was thrilled to see the vintage hanky wall, as I have inherited a gorgeous collection and have been wondering what to do with them. H&H never fails to inspire and I love the more spare, less-cluttered aesthetic of Canadian design magazines; thanks for the shout-out to good ol' T.O.!

David Copperfield must be eating his heart out over that lucite table!
I admit, I stopped at pic 4 and thought, "Wow, someone's done a great job at creating an Anna Spiro vibe." No wonder!

Needless to say, nothing but perseverance can lead a man to the way of success. In other words, a persevering man never does his work without succeeding in it. This is indeed unchangeable truth.
