Welcome, my darlings! It's been too long since your last visit! Surprise, surprise, we've moved again. Our previous home developed an infestation of extremely rare six-spotted tiger beetles--and if the insurance company asks, I did not encourage the beetles. Though I had become bored of the old place and was ready for a change. Shall we take a tour of my new digs?
Here is our formal sitting room. Those chairs used to be identical, but the one on the right was damaged when the beetle exterminator went rogue with his chainsaw. Oh, and see that battered branch on the console in the foreground? That's all that remains of our previous house. We keep it as a reminder not to order exotic insects over the internet.
Acting on a tip from a secret source, I became a big time shareholder in Suzanis and gilt mirrors. Naturally I was disappointed when the bottom fell out of those markets; I'm sure it didn't help that I was hoarding half the world's known supply in my house. Oh, and you didn't hear it from me, but there's big money to be made in leopard chairs and bizarre bendy lamps.
We've got two dining rooms in the new place. Here's the more formal space, perfect for entertaining dignitaries and celebrities. This weekend I'm hosting an Irish theme party in honor of St. Patrick's Day. The guest list is quite exclusive and includes only Liam Neeson, Colin Farrell and Jonathan Rhys Meyers. If you see them, tell them I anxiously await their RSVP's.
Around the corner you'll find the casual dining area. You might wonder why I've set so many places when it's just the huz and me living here. Well, I'm trying to teach the kittens to dine at the table with us. After my failed attempts at training them to use the human toilet, I figure it's the least I can do. (And no, I'm not joking about the potty training...)
Behold, my little reading nook. I chose these chairs not only to make a stylish statement but to facilitate personal edification. When reading an intellectual tome such as 'War and Peace', I force myself to sit with perfect posture the Gehry Wiggle Chair. But when mama's readin' her stories, she lounges in the Barcelona chair with a box of bonbons.
Finally, the master bedroom. I love a good deal just as much as the next girl, so when this floral print went on sale, I bought several hundred yards. Four walls, a headboard, and a dust ruffle later, I've still got, um, several hundred yards. Say, I don't s'pose I can I interest you in some fabric...?

I love the floral theme going on here! I think I need to decorate my house with more pretty florals, either real ones in vases or on walls or other decor!

I can't stop giggling over this today. I might have to invest in a few bizarre bendy lamps now.
Also, I would love to potty train my cat. I really hate the litter box.

Swirly chair! Where have you been all my life?!

Hee hee! Sorry to hear that the toilet training didn't work for the kitties ~ I considered it for mine but decided that since she's an indoors cat and doesn't get to climb trees or fossick in the garden, she might enjoy being able to scratch around in a nice tray of litter!

Well done! Each room is worse than the next. I still wouldn't turn down an invite. :)

I just found your blog, and I love it! This post was hilarious. I totally agree about the egregious decorating. Yikes! There are elements of each room that are good, but on the whole.... No.

This house is so beautifully collected and elegant. The cover was probably my favorite I've seen in years.
