Perhaps it's something in the water, or perhaps I'm just of an age when my peers start to procreate, but lately it seems like everyone has a bun in the oven--and I've caught a serious case of baby fever. So I thought I'd dedicate this week to all things baby and child. Because what are kids if not another opportunity to shop and decorate?
First up? A collection of my favorite kids' spaces. When I was little I loved my curlicue wrought iron bed, my Laura Ashley wallpaper, my mountain of ruffled toss pillows. Today my taste runs more towards a mix of modern pieces with whimsical, eclectic touches--though I do retain a soft spot for floral wallpaper.
A fabulous example of how a boy's room can feel youthful and welcoming without being overrun by cartoon characters. The simple red, white and blue palette feels playful, not patriotic, and the chic upholstery on the chair will be sophisticated long after junior has grown.
I squeal just as loudly as the next girl when I see a nursery swathed in fabulous textiles, but there's also something to be said for this spare, simple sensibility. Bright white floors and walls exploit that gorgeous natural light, and ample built-in storage highlights what's really important here: the toys!
I spent yesterday morning combing the booths at the Alameda Flea Market and got some smashing ideas for terrific children's spaces. Giant letters have been all the rage for a while now, and I especially like them propped casually with a grouping of vintage kids' ephemera--though keep these antique knickknacks for display only, due to lead paint concerns.
Quite possibly the coolest wall hangings ever, these old ring toss games remind me of the nifty 1950's toys in my grandparents' basement. I'm always thrilled to see how creative parents get in decorating their kids' rooms--when they shed their grown-up inhibitions and just have fun!
And speaking of fun, I remember how central bath time becomes when there are little ones in the house. Add a few touches for the kidlings--some bright colors, a cheeky duck--but don't forget that moms (and babysitters--ahem!) could use a comfy chair from which to supervise. Splish splash!
P.S. Joy found the perfect wallpaper for these warm modern kids' rooms!

What perfect kids rooms. I'm also seeing so many people around me have babies that now I'm paying extra attention to kid rooms, nurseries and baby showers/birthday parties. And your Laura Ashley wallpaper totally reminded me of my Laura Ashley pink bead spread from my childhood.

Planning to build your own house is really a daunting task because there are several issues to be considered before purchasing any kind of furniture or household items. You have to keep in mind that the products purchased match the color of the house.

Thirdly, more and more Cameroonians find themselves in a comfortable arena when the two languages are invoked. Bilingualism has ceased to be a mere mention under the CPDM, but a resounding tool to boast of by many today.
