While preparing this morning's post I discovered that today marks the beginning of National Embroidery Month--as if I needed an excuse to indulge my obsession with all things needle-and-threadable! There are so many stitching enthusiasts out there, and their imagination seems to know no bounds.
It's splendid to see how embroidery and other needle arts have extended beyond the purview of fussy old ladies and goody two shoes girls. Don't get me wrong, I also have a serious weakness for old school stitchery, but sometimes nothing satisfies like a Liz Lemon expletive or an embroidered ham.
Tell me: Do you ever get your stitch on? I myself am in the middle of a cross stitch chair from TinyModernist--and I'd love to hear about what's in your hoop! If you don't embroider but are itching to start, here's a cute project and a must-have book to get you going!
Shopping Guide: 1, 2. Mary's Granddaughter 3. September House 4. Ruggles Stitch 5. Incy Wincy Stitches 6. Bird & Banner (not embroidered but great inspiration!) 7. TinyModernist 8. Niku 9. Crooked Sister 10. Bubbly Schnooks 11. Crazy But Cute 12. La Gidgette (not for sale but I wish it were!) Sponsored links: Sign up for 000-107 training and get HP0-J40 certified in days! We offer high quality HP0-S26 dumps with 100% success guarantee.

you've been "in the middle of a cross stitch chair" for 6 months now!

Cool selection - love the chick in the glasses!
I used to stitch it up a bit when i was little, but not for a long time now.
Thinking it might be a worthwhile pass time to take back up, so that i'm proficient for my old age :)

Anne, Embroidery has always been my secret passion. I learned when I was about 9 and do it whenever I need to get creative. Right now I'm working on themed pillowcases (camping, etc) for different occasions. Subline Stitching is a great start with Cross Stitch and Jenny Hart's stuff is great for embroidery projects!

I love embroidery! What a good excuse to brush up on my skills. I've been meaning to spend some time practicing my stitches.

Oooo I didn't know there was a national embroidery month! I've been feeling in the mood to do some stitching and work on embroidery lately, maybe this is a sign that it must happen this month! :)

Anne, I think I will have a party on Valentine's Day, for my girlfriends. Inspired by your lovely cups and chocolate. Before that I am going to bake some Valentine cookies and bring them to a shelter in my city. Aside from that I will just be happy to know that we are getting closer to Spring. Oh and we must remember. This month is also awareness for women and their hearts...To take care of ourselves. A great reminder to all. Love this post.

Love these samplers. I bought one from Miniature Rhino a few months ago and it makes me smile every time I walk past it.

I just may get my embroidery on. I particularly love the cute little "i'm yours" that looks like it's on notebook paper. I might try that.

I haven't cross stitched in years, but when my oldest was a toddler - I cross stitched day in and day out....loved it!!

Unlike my unrequited felting fascination, I can safely admire cross-stitch without any temptation to try it myself. But your chair sounds very sweet ~ good for you, Anne. Perhaps The Huz can alternate stitches with you to help get it over the line. :)

I've just started learning embroidery - so I'm at the very beginning! I love that this is national embroidery month, though :)

The look of embroidery isn't always my favorite, but I love all of these!! I really like the horse at the beginning and then the women with glasses at the end. Perfect.

i adore the Blerg! one! Liz Lemon is my hero.

Hmm, I'm too busy getting my knit on, but embroidery - a lovely sampler hung on our walls - would be a perfect testament to this craft life I've taken up.
I think back to young girls who did samplers in the forced solitude of their drawing rooms, scrawling things like "Actions speak louder than words."
I don't think I'd include that saying, would you?
