I promise to be back later today with some insightful and life-changing analysis on matters of global importance. But until then, let us pause on this rosy Thursday to appreciate the sheer genius of the shoe section in Anthropologie's January catalogue. In the intonation of the great Chandler Bing, "Could these photos BE any more gorgeous?"
It's not so huge a leap to associate a woman's lust for sugar with her lust for shoes. But take the prettiest vintage-inspired flats and wedges, put them in a pastry case alongside bright macarons and fluffy rochers, and you've shot an arrow straight to the heart of even the most abstemious gal.
So pile the platter high, Anthropologie! I wear a size seven, and my favourite flavours are chocolate and pistachio. While you're at it, let me keep the platter too--I'm assuming you unearthed it at a flea market in some obscure Alsatian village. Shoes, sweets, and antiques? Now this is a New Year's diet I can get behind!

the whole catalog seems to have been made to torture me. the shoes, the dresses, the model in the dresses adorable haircut that would make me look like a lampshade.
sigh.

I'm absolutely in love with this post and of course, it's subject matter. But really, the writing is as much the beauty of it as the gorgeous shoes and pastry. 'Tis the genius of you, Anne.

Yes, please.
Your words aren't helping my desire for both macarons and shoes, either, my dear.

I had to clean up a puddle of drool from my desk yesterday when I was looking through their online catalog. Why do I need everything I see at that store?
And abstemious? Nice word choice!

I like that idea that I could have one of everything and not be deathly full, just well equipped with lovely shoes. My idea of a pastry platter.

I'd be lost without shoes… LOL! Every man is entitled to have a shoes style they want and match their personality.
