2009 was the year I talked about sprucing up my bedroom. Will 2010 be the year I actually do it? I've finally developed a clear vision, which is the second most important part (the most important being money, natch)! My obsession with this color palette began with the photo on the bottom right; the combination of deep, sooty blue with concrete white and warm brass has stolen my heart.
Now that I've painted my ceiling coal with blue undertones and my walls a shimmering grey-white, I've turned my attention to the sensibility I want to cultivate. My other rooms have a mid-century feel to them, but I'd like to go a little more traditional in the bedroom. The pieces? An upholstered headboard, plenty of glass and warm metal accents, and super-soft stonewashed linens. The result? An almost Hollywood Regency vibe that will bridge my existing modern elements with a more historied feel.
Remember my hunt for the perfect bed? I'd settled on the Colette from Crate and Barrel before learning that they won't do it in leather--and with cats I don't dare upholster in fabric--so now I'm back to the drawing board. But I'll keep you in the loop as developments arise!

It sounds wonderful!
Just a warning about cats and leather: mine tore up my leather dining chairs (especially the red ones; I guess he preferred them to the brown leather). He's also attacked my couch, which isn't leather. He doesn't discriminate; he's an equal opportunity destroyer. If you like the upholstered look, you might consider just an upholstered headboard. I think that's the one thing I have that kitty hasn't clawed.

Ahhh I love how we can be so different and still like each others! This is so you, very beautiful and glamorous, but still approachable. We have to hold each other to actually executing in 2010!!

Anne - I painted my bedroom an inky midnight blue with black undertones two years ago and I still love it every day I wake up in it. I think you will too.
In regards to the headboard, have you thought about just finding a great leather by the square foot and having an upholstery workroom create that bed for you? My local one has done a project very similar, for about the cost of that bed from C&B.

Having such a clear vision of what you want will help you to create your dream bedroom in no time, Anne! As Lauren @ Studio 1270 suggests, you might locate a great upholsterer who'll create exactly what you want. Maybe with some pawholds for the kitties. :)

Incredibly cool bedroom and isn't that just how it should be if we want to get those extra zzzz's? I've not adored stone-washed linens before, but in this scheme it couldn't be more appropriate. Beautiful!
oh, and I love that you painted your ceiling that color!

Anne,
Have you looked at Williams Sonoma Home? They have lots of different shapes of headboards and unusual color choices in leathers, such as light blue, faux ostrich, or orange.

Obsessed with the color palette you picked! And hugely lame on Crate and Barrels part for not doing it in leather!

Hi,
I am just reading your blog and I can't believe it! I also settled on the Collette bed from C&B but I was not happy with the fabric choices either. I chose to have the same bed made by Beckenstein Fabrics and was able to order the fabric/covering that I wanted. Beckenstein's is in the Flatiron district. The bed will be delivered in three weeks...I will keep you posted. Maybe this is an option for you too.

I am so proud that so pleasant creators give their creations in our world. If I were the monarch of the kingdom, I would give the creator of this article with gold

I definitely want to visit India. I write a little wanderlust travel blog and have posted about it a couple times.
