A white-on-white palette is a perennial holiday favorite. Like a blanket of freshly fallen snow, it feels muted and serene--perfect for calming those post-shopping jangled nerves. Pile on plenty of texture: think felt and fur, paper and lace, coconut and meringue.
To prevent the palette from feeling chilly, mix in touches of wood. Whether ebony dark or ash pale, wood warms up white-on-white for a welcoming effect. Set a maple table without a tablecloth, stack a weathered oak chair high with presents, or just admire a tower of chopped firewood next to your pristine white hearth. Then sit back, relax and let white wash over you!

White on white is one of my faves. But why do I desperately need a meringue now? Curious...
