Here in San Francisco it is pouring rain, so something light and delicate is in order today. I adore this palette of soft mint green and accents of polished silver or tarnished gold; it puts me in the mind of a Jane Austen style holiday--elegant dinners of sweetmeats and sugared grapes, games of charades and whist, and strolls about the dance floor while trading on dits.
Even if your Mr. Darcy is nowhere to be found, you can still indulge in the refined fantasy of this color combination. Wrap your gifts in gold tissue and tie them with a pale green satin ribbon. Display pistachio macaroons in a teacup rimmed in platinum. Or, like me, paint your hallway a barely-there shade of mint and hang an antique gilt mirror (pics coming soon!) Then sit down with a copy of Pride and Prejudice and turn straight to the lake scene!
P.S. I'm honored to have been named one of the Top 50 Design Blogs by The Times!

This is nice mix. My own decorations are in green (a slightly darker shade than mint) and gold with peacock elements thrown in.

Oh, I just adore this post - especially for the Jane Austen references! Cold rainy days remind me of English refinement as well! I especially love the image of the mint English tea service!

I am not a big fan of green but somehow there is something beautiful dreamy in the pictures that I like/

I can't believe the minty color looks good! I made a big mistake with five gallons of minty paint this summer. I love green, but always pick the wrong shade. This was third and last mistake. Now I'm left with a huge bucket of mint green paint. Ugh.
