One of my favourite holiday traditions is that of the mystery overnight gift drop. Isn't it wonderful to wake up in the morning and find special surprises where there were none before? Some of us hang stockings, some put their shoes outside the door, and--like my husband's family--some just leave an empty pillow case. But whatever vessel you're hoping to fill with gifts this December, there are tons of fun alternatives to socks, underwear and oranges!
You could carefully ration the treats in this sampler of exotic chocolate bars, but wouldn't it be much more fun to stage a double blind taste test and devour them all at once? If bacon chocolate isn't quite your thing, stock up on weird English candy bars, brew some tea in this wolf mug, deal a round of gin rummy with your designer playing cards, and pretend you're a character on a British soap opera. I love finding totally useless yet hilarious items in my stocking; a WTF snow globe, Obama rubber stamp, fast food key toppers, wacky bandages, and scented pencils (aka 'Smencils') fit the bill! Of course personal grooming is always important---mints, antique-y toothpaste and cupcake-scented body lotion say, 'I love you but you need a bath.'

the stockings are my favorite part. for opening and for shopping for. i love seeking out unique eclectic stuffers for my son's stocking. i put alot of thought into it and find you can get so super creative with them! urban outfitters has some fun stuffers too. great post!

I love the stockings. We actually talked about just doing stockings this year, to keep things a bit more sane. We'll see.

I have to admit, the WTF snow globe is pretty funny!
I've seen lots of keycaps online, but not the hotdog and drink ones you have here.
Fun list -- thanks!

I've always thought the pillow-case leaving is a sign of a tremendously optimistic and gregarious nature ~ such a large and practical receptacle compared to the charming-yet-fiddly stocking.

your dear kitties were the first thought I had on reading your post, given that nearly every upholstered item in our home is partially shredded. I like to think it adds character. :) But your leather idea could be very practical...
