In 8th grade I had a pair of J. Crew lace-up boots that I literally loved to pieces. I teamed them with baggy overalls and chunky turtleneck sweaters as I blasted Alanis Morissette in my walkman on the way to flute lessons and orthodontist appointments. Though I wouldn't be caught dead in overalls today, I do still wear my retainer to bed, I do still rock out to Alanis, and I do so love these shoes!
These days I'd pair ultra flat jazz-inspired lace-ups with opaque tights and a pair of cuffed wool shorts. I'd sport the chunkier, mannish oxfords with my favorite boyfriend jeans and a girly cardigan. And the taller boots would be perfect with a pair of leggings and--yes, you guessed it--a chunky turtleneck sweater!
So while I might pay more attention today to things like construction and detailing (wing tips and fringe kiltie, come to mama!) I guess I'm not so different from my 14-year-old self. I'm still planning my Christmas wish list with the strategic fervor of an army general; and just like in the 8th grade, these shoes are at the top of the list!

I love these...I really want a black pair! Is that Garance Dore in the 1st photo? I love her.

So stylish. I always worried about how I would wear these... the ladies in the pictures do it so nicely though... and make it look so easy!

I love those white perforated wingtips. Sadly, I don't think I could pull these off. But I think
you would totally rock the look!

I love the pics - don't think I could ever pull it off myself.

I also had a pair when I was about 13/14 - they were navy and brown. Ah yes, I was oh so cool... I think today I'd pick something a little more subtle like #6. Lovely selection

I tried on a suede, summery pair the other day and but for the color, would have definitely gotten them.

I was debating oxfords myself and now you have me half convinced. I had them in middle school too so I'm wary I've looking retro in the complete wrong way, but these ladies are rocking them sooo well. Plus, hello?, they are comfy...

this is definitely a style i'd want to try. i'd like to purchase an oxford style w/a small heel i think.

I'm not convinced about the 'oxfords'. I think they'll make my feet look really big! Although they do look great is these pictures. Hmmmm. Decisions decisions!

I bet overalls will be back in style soon. I don't know if I could feel sexy in these shoes. Clearly, I have a hang up!

Really? What colour were they? I remember the overalls, retainer, and chunky turtleneck sweaters (and don't forget the matching socks n hair scrunchies, wearing boxer briefs as shorts, and rocking out in the car to hootie and the blowfish with your mom,) but I don't remember the boots of which you speak...
ps at first I was thinking, "what's with the fall outfits" before suddenly remembering it's almost winter up there in the northern hemisphere! It's hard to believe it could be cold somewhere... it was 43 degrees here yesterday!

I think its a pretty good idea not that there aren't other sites out there that already do something similar but I think it might catch on here pretty well.
