In my ongoing quest to fill the gaping hole left by Domino (sigh), I recently stumbled across the Spanish interiors magazine Nuevo Estilo (with thanks to Delight by Design for the intro). Spain is not a country that has been on my design radar, but after drooling over these gorgeous spaces it's clear that we all need a little more España in our lives!
There are two things that strike me most about these images. The first is the quality of the lighting; it's so freakin' bright! You can just feel the sun streaming through the windows, bathing the room with clean white light.
The second is the fearless mix of old and new. Eames rocker meets Swedish sofa meets cube tables--all under a ceiling of arched brick. In the middle ages Spain was a crossroads between many different cultural influences, and clearly not much has changed!
Have you ever seen a dining room more gasp-worthy than this one? I admire the owner's restraint in not filling this vast space to the brim. A single striking chandelier and streamlined white furniture let the architecture do the talking.
Bookshelves as walls: my idea of heaven. And I love the contrast of the dark shelves with the all-white room. Those floors must be a nightmare to keep clean, but it would be worth it for a library that glows as much as this one does.
Lately I have bedrooms on the brain--especially since Ronda at All the Best announced her bedroom contest!--and this one is calling my name. I'm a sucker for an airy four poster bed, but throw in a textured hide on the floor and I'm a goner!
This weathered chest of drawers pairs beautifully with the crisp, fluffy linens on the bed. Plus the mismatched lighting is so playful yet understated. Don't you want to retreat to this room and lounge all day? With an overflowing platter of juicy local fruit, of course!
It wouldn't be a trip to Spain without a couple sun-drenched outdoor shots. I've not seen Mario and Gwyneth's Spanish cooking show, but this is a setting I imagine them often dining in. Simple, rustic, and anchored in the elements.
So who's with me: shall we pack our bags and go for real? Okay, maybe not right away--so in the meantime take a virtual trip to Spain at Nuevo Estilo!

love the room with the union jack cushion (even in Spain it works)! and love even more the twin 4-posters -- especially love undressed posters. Am worried Mario Batali might crush one of those delicate chairs!

I'd go in a heartbeat. Just yesterday I was toying with the idea of sending Til to a Spanish immersion school. Clearly I'm in the Spanish frame of mind too!

Big hi from Spain, I'm just back from my honeymoon and after 2 weeks, I could not wait to see your blog. It was such a nice surprise to find Nuevo Estilo among your fab articles! I've been a big follower since a kid thanks to my parents. Spain isn't just a destination for holidays as you can see. We spanish love design but at the same time creating cozy and practical spaces it a must, and Nuevo Estilo reflects it perfectly. Big thank you.

I do really like your professional release! Could you accomplish the argumentative essay as example? Because I know that a professional classification essay service could compose well researched term papers of good enough quality.

Let us suggest to the person in crisis that he cease concentrating so upon the dangers involved and the difficultie, and concentrate instead upon the opptunity---for there is always opportunity in crisis.
