Sometimes I receive recommendations from Amazon that are so spot on, I'm convinced they have tiny fairies monitoring my dreams at night--and the fairies must have been working overtime in the case of Flea Market Style by Emily Chalmers, with photos by the amazing Debbie Treloar. One look at the cover and I was sold! The images in this book are a gorgeous mix of eclectic pieces, vibrant yet mellow colors, and bright, cheerful lighting.
Even if you're not 100% into mid-century modern, you can still appreciate the spindly, funky lines of these chairs. And I adore the mix of bubble pendants with a fussy wall sconce. It prevents the space from looking like it's trying too hard.
With a tableware collection this vast, it's no wonder that an industrial strength spray faucet is required. I just hope these folks don't live anywhere earthquake prone...but it might be worth a few broken dishes if I could have a ladder in my kitchen!
Lately I'm really digging the effect of old portraits and paintings displayed with a touch of irony. A grouping of hounds complements the cheeky hunt club vibe of a tufted sofa and plaid throw, while a larger-than-life royal supervises a sleek sitting room fit for a queen.
Flea Market Style features an entire chapter of fabulous childrens' spaces. The punchy palette of this nursery definitely resembles my design from yesterday! Though the charming vintage crib puts my plain Ikea number to shame...
What a creative (not to mention budget and eco-friendly) wall treatment! There's tons of old wallpaper available online, and this patchwork project is a great way to use scraps that would otherwise be tossed in the trash.
Of course a grown-up bedroom often calls for something a little more serene than a child's room--and this quiet retreat fits the bill quite nicely, doesn't it? Tonal whites and greys calm even the busiest of minds, while a luxe silk curtain in juicy peach adds a layer of warmth.
Clean white walls provide the ideal backdrop for playful granny accessories. I never thought an afghan could look so cute! Plus that flower chandelier inspires me to scour my local thrift stores so I can replace my blah apartment fixtures.
Two words about this bathroom: yum yum! The painting, the sconces, and the candlestick seem to have come together so organically. Plus an antique wood console--usually seen in a dining or living room--looks unexpectedly at home next to a porcelain tub. Splish splash!
Flea Market Style by Emily Chalmers is definitely falls into the category of 'run--don't walk--to the library'. I've not even scratched the surface of all the tasty eye candy it offers-- so snag your own copy here

Oh my gosh...these rooms speak to me. Just adore white canvases with punches of color! :) I especially love the gargantuan portrait of Queen E.

That photo showing the wall of dishes is kind of amazing -- it should looked cluttered, but it just seems wonderful!
